Attorneys announce formation of Clayton-based law firm handling business litigation, consumer class action, personal injury and mass tort cases
Clayton, Mo. – David T. Butsch, James J. Simeri and Matthew R. Fields are pleased to announce the formation of a new law firm, Butsch Simeri Fields LLC.
Located in the St. Louis suburb of Clayton, the new firm handles business litigation, as well as consumer class action, personal injury and mass tort cases.
David T. Butsch, a litigator with more than 20 years’ experience, has successfully pursued multimillion-dollar class action cases for consumers, represented banks and self-insured businesses and defended insurance companies. He is a frequent presenter at civil litigation seminars and serves as the civil procedure editor of Missouri Courts and CLE Bulletin, published by the Missouri Bar. Rated an AV lawyer by Martindale Hubbell, Butsch was named a Missouri/Kansas Superlawyer in 2006.
Butsch graduated cum laude from St. Mary’s University of San Antonio. He received his law degree from Saint Louis University Law School in 1988 and served as articles editor for the Saint Louis University Law Journal.
James J. Simeri has a broad range of civil litigation experience. In class action cases, he has represented not only consumers but also employees with wage claims, and he has arbitrated securities cases before the National Association of Securities Dealers on behalf of both customers and broker-dealers. Simeri has handled employment cases involving wrongful termination and discrimination claims, in addition to noncompete-agreement disputes.
Simeri served as an officer in the U.S. Navy and was stationed aboard an amphibious assault ship before obtaining his law degree from Northwestern University. Simeri earned his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University.
Matthew R. Fields has extensive experience handling asbestos litigation cases in both Missouri and Illinois. He concentrates in the areas of business and commercial litigation and insurance defense, where he has a successful track record in high-stakes litigation.
Fields spent five years working in the banking industry before obtaining his law degree in 1999. He earned his undergraduate degree at Eastern Illinois University and his law degree from the Saint Louis University School of Law.
